Dog home euthanasia visit

My priority is that your dog feels no distress, anxiety or discomfort and is put to sleep as peacefully as possible.

After a discussion regarding your dog’s recent health changes, a sedation injection will be administered. This will ensure the process of putting your dog to sleep is as peaceful and gentle as possible as they sleep for the remainder of the visit. This injection is a sharp scratch just like us having a vaccine, but it’s over before your dog knows it and should be the only thing they feel. Dogs don’t tend to feel nauseous after the sedation, they just feel relaxed. The pet drifts into a heavy sedation and will look like they are asleep. Usually this takes between 2 to 10 minutes.

Once your dog is fully sedated, they won’t feel any discomfort when we place an IV cannula and give an overdose of an anesthetic. It is just that – an anesthetic- so your dog goes into an even deeper sleep before passing peacefully away.
