How much notice do you need to book a home visit?

I work visits around other work commitments and life, so as much notice as you can give is really helpful. If you are needing an urgent last minute visit I will help if I can however I can’t guarantee to be available, I am more likely to be able to accommodate short notice bookings close to York. It is especially helpful to plan visits ahead of time to be able to tie in with crematoriums, although they do try to be flexible as I do.

Will the crematorium collect my pet?

This is a service usually offered by the pet crematorium but will be discussed with the crematorium when we book in. Often owners like their pet to be collected shortly after they have been put to sleep, but some owners prefer to spend some time with their pet after they have passed. Sometimes the crematorium will ask owners to take pets there themselves, especially after evening put to sleep visits but we will discuss this at time of booking.

Do you visit at weekends/ evenings?
I do offer weekend and evening home visit euthanasia appointments when I am available. I don’t offer out of hours (later than 8pm) appointments.
Will my pet shut his/ hers eyes when they’ve passed?
Lots of owners ask me this and the answer is no, unfortunately pets do not tend to shut their eyes when they have been put to sleep.
Will the sedation make my pet feel sick?
No, I use different sedative combinations for dogs and cats in order to reduce the chances of them feeling nauseous after the sedation injection. Each animal reacts slightly differently to sedation, but we aim for them to be very deeply asleep from the sedation so they don’t feel any pain or anxiety.
Can I hold my pet whilst they are put to sleep?
Yes you can. I spend time making sure pet and owner are comfortable prior to the euthanasia.
